Step 1
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/2 inch rings. Separate the rings and set aside.

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the beer to the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth.

Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot or deep fryer to 180°C (350°F).

Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
