  • 800 grams canned tomatoes
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions

Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
Step 2
Add the chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Step 4
Add the canned tomatoes, salt, and sugar to the pan.
Step 5
Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step 6
Tear the basil leaves and add them to the sauce along with the black pepper. Stir well.
Step 7
Let the sauce simmer for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
